She is the Storm.

I'm painting just for me again. Well, not just for me. For Simone, who just turned TWO (I know, I can't believe it either), for mental health, for myself, and for every new parent. That's right, I have a new collection in the works (and I do truly mean in the works - it's nowhere near complete)! It has my entire heart bundled into it.

In these works I’ll collaborate with my littlest love, my whole heart, and the one who made me a mom, as I explore the complexity of motherhood and postpartum. It’s a storm filled with endless beauty and overflowing joy, but there’s also a raw wildness and intense loss of control - of your body, your time, your space, your relationships, your everything.
I’ll be pouring my heart into variations of stormy skyscapes on canvas, before passing the “completed” paintings to Simone, who will add a personal touch of her own with no limitations other than the use of POSCA paint pens.
Some may feel that this ruins the work, but I hope to challenge the viewer to internalize that discomfort and inspect it. Lose yourself in the chaos and inconsistency that is the experience, and find the beauty in childish innocence within the storm of adult emotion.
She is the storm.

If you're in Amesbury, MA sometime between today and June 30th, you can swing by the Art@City Hall Creative Chaos show and see one of the works! The show seemed like a perfect fit - a world where art and imagination collide, break boundaries, and transform through disorder. I'm honored to have had one of the pieces accepted!
BUT, this show EXTRA special, because not only will one of my pieces be included, but Simone also had an individual artwork selected! (Don't mind me while I SOB). She has been completely enthralled by art, and spends hours at her easel with her tempura paint sticks in hand.
If you're interested in kicking off the show with Simone and me, please feel welcome to attend the opening reception TOMORROW, Wednesday, March 19th from 5-6:30pm.
Pieces Included
Early Storm, Acrylic on Canvas, 3 14x14in triangles by Bailey Campbell and Simone Campbell
The Edamame is Cooked, Tempera on Canvas, 16x20in by Simone Campbell

As always, thank you so much for the love and support. I'm excited to show you all the collection as it progresses!
xx,
Bailey
